To improve education for children through promoting parent participation and to serve as a liaison between home, school and community   Responsibilities:   FAMILY RESOURCE AND ENGAGEMENT: 
Plans and/or assists with building meetings/events which involve staff, parents, students, and/or community membersKeeps accurate records of all school-based parent meetings including an agenda, minutes, and attendanceMakes contact and keeps record of: home visits, phone calls and written communicationCreates and distributes information to parents and staff members, such as newsletters and memosWorks with community agencies and business partners to aid and assist families DATA MANAGEMENT: 
Process all needed formsBasic computer skills including word and excelMaintains student attendance records STUDENT/FAMILY WELLNESS: 
Follow district truancy policy (such as calling parents and truancy mediation)Transports students and parents as deemed necessary by the principalWork in the context of a school, filing for the B.A.C Coach and secretary when neededAdministering  medication, clinic coverage, and management of student health conditions (e.g. diabetes, asthma, seizure disorders) when school nurse is not there)Attend all trainings and meetings that support this positionPerform all other duties as deemed necessary by the building principal Applicants for the above positions are REQUIRED to be Highly Qualified, which is defined as: Two (2) years of college (Minimum of 48 Semester Hours, or 72 Quarter Hours), or possess an Associate’s Degree, or passed the Praxis Paraprofessional Assessment Exam.   Applicants must submit a copy of their Praxis Paraprofessional Assessment Exam results, or a copy of their college transcript(s) to verify their Highly Qualified Status. Applicants must also have a valid Educational Aide Permit, or obtain one immediately upon being employed with the Canton City School District.
