6 HOURS PER DAY, 191 DAYS PER YEAR

Step 1 - Hourly Rate $16.21

 

Required

  1. High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  2. Physical ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  3. Basic math aptitude
  4. Good physical stamina, intermittent standing, walking and lifting
  5. Pass FBI/BCI background check

 

Desirable:

  1. Experience in food service environment
  2. Good customer service skills
  3. Good communication skills - written and verbal
  4. The ability to demonstrate great team work
  5. The ability to follow the rules and guidelines established by the Canton City Board of Education



Responsibilities

The responsibilities of a Food Production Assistant (FPA) include, but are not limited to the following:

 

  1. Demonstrate excellent customer service with a positive attitude and demeanor when dealing with students, staff and community patrons, fielding all complaints promptly, answering questions and making healthy food suggestions.
  2. Prepare and assist in the preparation of any alternate meal or any meal component as assigned by the kitchen manager.  FPA are required to be cross-trained in all meal and alternate meal preparation areas in their assigned kitchen.
  3. Set up and maintain the serving line with adequate food and replenish when necessary, monitoring food quality and temperature during service time.
  4. Able to work other scheduled times during employee absences and when necessary to appropriately run kitchen operations.
  5. Accurately operate the cash register at Point of Service and cash out at the end of service with minimal errors
  6. Clean and sanitize the kitchen preparation and service areas, food service equipment and cafeteria area as needed, adhering to safety and sanitation standards at all times.
  7. Operate all food service equipment and use preparation tools safely and in the means they were intended to be used.  FPA will follow all safety standards and Material Safety Data Sheets for cleaning products and chemicals in the kitchen.
  8. Follow all food safety standard guidelines outlined by the Canton City Health Department and the Ohio Department of Health.  FPA will also comply with and maintain any food safety training as established by Canton City Schools, Canton City Health Department and the Ohio Department of Health.
  9. Follow all National School Lunch and Breakfast guidelines established by the USDA and the Ohio Department of Education.  All FPA’s will complete any required training/professional development required  by Canton City School District, Ohio Department of Education and USDA.
  10. Complete daily paperwork required by Canton City Schools offices, Canton City Health Department, Ohio Department of Education and USDA.  Paperwork could include, but not limited to Production Sheets, Inventory, Meal Counts, Temperature Logs, etc.
  11. Understand and maintain the academic and behavioral standards set for the students by the Board of Education, acting in a professional and respectful manner.  FPA will cooperate with others, work as a member of a team and create a pleasant working environment for all Canton City Child Nutrition employees.
  12. Perform other job duties as assigned.
